Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LEH & MANDATORY REST
- Arrive at Leh Airport (11,562 ft). Transfer to your hotel. The entire day is for rest and acclimatization to the high altitude. Proper rest today ensures a healthy trip ahead. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 2: LEH LOCAL SIGHTSEEING
- Visit the historic Leh Palace and the serene Shanti Stupa. Explore the Hall of Fame museum and the vibrant Leh Main Market in the evening. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 3: LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA
- Drive to the beautiful Nubra Valley crossing Khardung La (17,582 ft). Visit the Diskit Monastery and its massive Maitreya Buddha statue. Enjoy a camel safari on the sand dunes of Hunder. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
DAY 4: NUBRA VALLEY TO PANGONG LAKE VIA SHYOK
- Drive to the breathtaking Pangong Tso Lake (14,270 ft) via the scenic Shyok route. Spend the evening walking along the shores of the color-changing lake. Overnight stay in deluxe camps at Pangong Lake.
DAY 5: PANGONG LAKE TO TSO MORIRI
- Embark on a long but stunning drive towards the pristine Tso Moriri Lake. This high-altitude lake is a breeding ground for many species of birds and is known for its intense blue color and quiet surroundings. Overnight stay in Karzok (Tso Moriri).
DAY 6: TSO MORIRI TO LEH VIA CHUMATHANG
- Witness the sunrise at Tso Moriri. Drive back to Leh via the Chumathang Hot Springs and follow the Indus River. Arrive in Leh by evening. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 7: SHAM VALLEY & SANGAM EXPLORATION
- A relaxed drive towards Sham Valley. Visit the Sangam (confluence of Indus & Zanskar), Magnetic Hill, and Gurudwara Pathar Sahib. Evening free for final souvenir shopping. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 8: DEPARTURE FROM LEH
- Transfer to Leh Airport for your flight back home, concluding your Essential Ladakh Expedition.
