Detailed Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN LEH & ACCLIMATIZATION
- Upon arrival at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport, Leh (11,562 ft), you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel. Due to the high altitude, the entire day is reserved for complete rest to allow your body to acclimatize. Proper rest and hydration are essential to prevent altitude sickness. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 2: LEH LOCAL SIGHTSEEING & CULTURE
- After breakfast, explore the historic Leh Palace and the peaceful Shanti Stupa, offering panoramic views of the Leh city and the Indus Valley. Visit the Hall of Fame, a museum built in memory of the brave Indian soldiers. In the evening, stroll through the vibrant Leh Main Market. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 3: LEH TO NUBRA VALLEY VIA KHARDUNG LA
- Today, we drive to the mystical Nubra Valley via Khardung La (17,582 ft), once believed to be the highest motorable road in the world. Descend into the valley and visit Diskit Monastery, known for its giant Maitreya Buddha statue. Later, enjoy a camel safari on the double-humped Bactrian camels amidst the sand dunes of Hunder. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
DAY 4: EXCURSION TO TURTUK (INDO-PAK BORDER)
- Drive to Turtuk, a village opened to tourists in 2010. Turtuk was under Pakistan's control until 1971 and retains a distinct Balti culture. Explore the apricot orchards, local museums, and the Indo-Pak border (from a distance). It is one of the most scenic and culturally rich villages in the region. Return to Hunder for the night. Overnight stay in Nubra Valley.
DAY 5: NUBRA VALLEY TO PANGONG LAKE VIA SHYOK
- Embark on a scenic drive to the world-famous Pangong Tso Lake (14,270 ft) via the Shyok River route. This route offers some of the most rugged and beautiful terrain in Ladakh. Arrive at the lake and witness its breathtaking colors as the sun sets. Overnight stay in deluxe camps at Pangong Lake.
DAY 6: PANGONG LAKE TO LEH VIA CHANG LA
- Witness a magical sunrise at the lake. After breakfast, drive back to Leh crossing the mighty Chang La pass (17,590 ft). En-route, visit the magnificent Hemis Monastery, the largest and wealthiest in Ladakh, and the iconic Thiksey Monastery, reminiscent of the Potala Palace in Lhasa. Overnight stay in Leh.
DAY 7: DEPARTURE FROM LEH
- Early morning transfer to Leh Airport for your flight back home, carrying unforgettable memories of the Grand Ladakh Expedition.
